Sea-Doo says it is considering Apple CarPlay for future high-end models – however it needs to assess customer demand, overcome some technical challenges, and get final approval from Apple.

Seven out of 15 models in the 2026 Sea-Doo line-up now have a 10.25-inch touchscreen display as standard – the largest in the Jet Ski market to date.

It is the same screen fitted to certain three-wheel motorcycles (pictured below) made by Can-Am, which is Sea-Doo’s sister brand under the BRP Powersports umbrella. Models equipped with the 10.25-inch screen also come with Apple CarPlay.

When asked by Watercraft Zone during a recent visit to the Sea-Doo factory if Apple CarPlay would eventually make its way onto Sea-Doo, the global product strategy manager of Sea-Doo, Christian Comtois said:

“Apple CarPlay we have it on our (three-wheeled) road vehicles. It’s a system that works well when you’re on the road.

“It has not been developed to be off the road, so for navigation it’s going to be (not ideal) because you’re just going to access Google Maps (and Apple Maps) and some features that don’t give you much more than what you have right now (with the 10.25-inch display).

“The best advantages would be access to music apps … but it’s a lot of development for us to get there.

“That said, people want Apple CarPlay, it’s sexy, we know how to use it our car.

“But is it really needed? Let’s see. If it’s needed we’re going to bring it, eventually.

“It’s very difficult to get Apple to (accept) an off-road application … or a powersports application – you need their approval and then you need the engineering so it fits our (instrument) cluster.”

When asked if Sea-Doo was confident it could get approval from Apple eventually, Mr Comtois said:

“I think we could, yeah. The requirement is we need a microphone … and there’s a couple of other things we need to check.

“But it’s feasible. Depending on the customer needs and how things are going to evolve, we’re going to evaluate this.”
