Jarrell Miller was involved in one of the more unusual moments you would see in a boxing ring this year in his fight against Kingsley Ibeh as one of the undercard fights on the Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson bill, with Ibeh dislodging Miller’s toupee off his head, leaving fans both in Madison Square Garden and at home shocked.

The incident occurred late in the second round, with Ibeh landing a barrage of punches on Miller, forcing him back onto the ropes. One shot would snap Miller’s head back with his hairpiece lifting from the front, before peeling almost all the way off, leaving everyone in the area astonished with what they’d just seen.

DAZN commentator Chris Mannix said he had never seen anything like it in boxing before, which is no surprise really.

At the end of the round, during his sit down in his corner, Miller would take off the loosening hairpiece and throw it into the crowd, with some celebrities taking the opportunity to have a joke on social media, some even wearing the wig for a photo.

Miller seemed to laugh the incident off and continue on with the fight as if nothing had gone on. He would go on to defeat Ibeh by split decision, by scores of 97-93, 97-93, and 94-96. When announced as the winner, the American jokingly rubbed his head while celebrating in the ring.

Jarrell Miller Explains Hair Issue

In his post-fight interview, Miller spoke about the incident and saw the funny side of it, saying: “I get to my mama’s house, and she had some shampoo bottles under her table, and I shampooed it. That s*** was like ammonia and bleach. I nearly lost my hair like two days ago, so I called my manager: ‘Let me slap that s*** on my on head real quick.’ And [Ibeh] slapped that s*** off!”
