CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team (1-2) continues its homestand on Tuesday (Feb. 3) against Lander at 2:00 p.m. on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.

 

MATCH NOTES
– The match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, Jan. 24 but was postponed due to inclement weather.

– Live scoring will be available for Tuesday’s match.

 

BLUE HOSE NOTES
– Presbyterian picked up its first win of the season on Friday (Jan. 30), defeating Belmont Abbey 4-3. The match was PC’s first home contest of the year. The Blue Hose won the doubles point before Ladina Bruhin, Grace Katzman, and Mary Ellen Longmore logged singles wins to clinch the victory over the Crusaders.

– Bruhin is off to a hot start to her freshman season, boasting an undefeated 3-0 singles record playing on the top court. She was named Big South Freshman of the Week on Jan. 20.

– The Blue Hose have two doubles teams that have picked up wins so far this season: Bruhin and Roxy Valdes, Katzman and Longmire.

 

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
The Blue Hose return four from last season to this year’s squad. McKenzie Davis, Mary Ellen Longmire, Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo, and Elle Sceney are all back for Presbyterian. Five newcomers join PC this season as well. Katherine Bauer, Ladina Bruhin, Luciana Parrilli, and Roxy Valdes highlight the Blue Hose freshmen class. Finally, sophomore transfer Grace Katzman comes to the Blue Hose from North Greenville University.

 

FALL BIG SOUTH DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
McKenzie Davis and Ladina Bruhin won the second-ever edition of the Big South Fall Doubles Championship as the No. 3 seed in October. The pair picked up three wins in the tournament to claim the title, clinching the championship with an 8-4 win in the final over the No. 5 seed Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres of Charleston Southern. The duo earned automatic entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego by way of their victory, where they reached the round of 16.

 

SPRING SCHEDULE
Head coach Joel Roberts enters his seventh season at the helm of the Blue Hose women’s tennis program. PC will play in 21 dual matches this spring, hosting 12 matches in Clinton at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts. In the Big South, the Blue Hose will host Longwood on March 8, Gardner-Webb on March 19, and Charleston Southern on March 25.

 

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
– The Blue Hose have won all four of the previous meetings between the two teams. All four matchups have come in the last four years. Last season, PC defeated Lander 6-1 on the road in Greenwood, S.C. 

– This will be the first dual match of 2026 for the Bearcats. 

– Last year, the Bearcats finished with an 11-10 overall record, dropping their first match of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

The Blue Hose will have a break before returning to action at home against Queens on Saturday (Feb. 14) at 12:00 p.m. on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.
