The NFL mock drafts have been flowing like Krombacher from the kegs at Octoberfest. While we still need to get the Super Bowl behind us, the draft order is pretty solidified regardless of who wins between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

As Notre Dame fans, we all have our own NFL allegiances which, thankfully, don’t spill over onto this site too often. When it comes to the NFL Draft, however, there’s a collective vibe of just wanting our guys to be drafted — well and in big numbers. This year, there are a fair number of Notre Dame players entering the draft, but there is one in particular that will undoubtedly be drafted first — and in the first round.

Running back Jeremiyah Love is considered by a number of services as the number one player in the draft. His position, however, doesn’t hold the same value as positions like quarterback, edge, or left tackle — but we’re still looking at a top ten pick.

Most of the mock drafts I’ve seen, such as Daniel Jeremiah, Lance Zierlein, and Matt Miller have Jeremiyah Love going #8 overall to the New Orleans Saints, and it makes sense for multiple reasons. However… there’s a theory being floated around that the Kansas City Chiefs would like to get Jeremiyah Love in the draft, and perhaps their interest in hiring Deland McCullough from the Las Vegas Raiders is a hint about their intentions.

Still though — KC would have to move ahead of New Orleans to get Love, so I’m not entirely sure how real this whole plot is surrounding the Chiefs, McCullough, and Love.

OTHER NOTRE DAME NFL DRAFT NOTES

WR — Malachi Fields

No player improved their stock more at the Senior Bowl than Fields. He impressed scouts so much that he has been catapulted into the conversation as an early second round pick — while a few see a possible path to being picked late in the first round.

RB — Jadarian Price

price is widely considered to be the 2nd best RB in the draft after Jeremiyah Love. Most have him being selected near the middle of the second round, but there are (like with Fields) those who still think there is a possibility Price is selected in the first round.
