Aston Martin produced their best weekend of the 2025 Formula 1 season so far at the Hungarian Grand Prix as Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll both finished in the points.
Last Sunday’s race marked just the second time thus far this year that Alonso and Stroll both bagged points in the same Grand Prix following July’s British GP. Alonso and Stroll finished in ninth and seventh at Silverstone respectively, and they sealed fifth and seventh in Budapest.
A 16-point haul from the Hungarian GP also jumped Aston Martin from eighth to sixth place in the F1 constructors’ standings going into the summer break. The Silverstone team now sit a point above Sauber, having even leapfrogged Racing Bulls who trail Aston Martin by seven.

Aston Martin stunned Martin Brundle with their pace at the Hungarian GP, with the Sky UK pundit claiming the AMR25 was like a ‘different car’ in Budapest one week after Alonso and Stroll qualified 19th and 20th for the Belgian GP. They even finished in P17 and P14 at Spa.

But previous comments from Ralf Schumacher and his Sky Germany colleagues saw Aston Martin boycott the channel across the Hungarian GP. BILD reports that chief trackside officer Mike Krack declined Sky Germany’s request to speak with Aston Martin before the weekend.
Aston Martin declined any requests for interviews all weekend, as Sky Germany often gives ‘little interest’ to the team along with Schumacher ‘repeatedly’ expressing criticism of Stroll and the AMR25. Sky Germany rarely attends Aston Martin’s scheduled events for the media.
The Silverstone squad wanted to make Sky Germany and Schumacher an example that they should not only be contacted when Alonso and Stroll are performing well. Schumacher and presenter Peter Hardenacke openly addressed the issues on Sky Germany in Budapest, too.
“I know they’re not giving us any more interviews because they don’t like us that much at the moment,” Schumacher explained on Sky Germany. To which, Hardenacke added: “We were a bit too critical of the people at Aston Martin.”
Sacked Red Bull boss Christian Horner complained to Sky Germany about Ralf Schumacher
Aston Martin are not the first Formula 1 team to take issue with Schumacher’s comments on Sky Germany by staging their boycott at last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Before he was sacked by Red Bull in July, Christian Horner complained to Sky Germany about Schumacher.
Horner took issue with the regular criticism Schumacher aimed at Red Bull while the Briton was in charge of a team in decline, which the ex-Williams and Toyota driver associated with the 51-year-old’s tenure that led the likes of Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley to leave.
Now, Aston Martin have followed in Horner’s footsteps by taking action against Schumacher at the Hungarian GP. Schumacher especially irked the Silverstone squad after the British GP in July, having suggested that Stroll should apologise for criticising how his AMR25 handled.
