Remco Evenepoel had been hinted to be joining Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe for several months now and it had been widely reported that during the Tour de France the confirmation was very close – and that this happened after his departure from the race. Today it’s been confirmed, and Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe had a few brief words on it’s star signing.Ralph Denk, team manager, has shared a few words in a carefully scheduled press release (both teams have issued it for the exact same time): “Remco stands for ambition. He doesn’t just want to ride – he wants to shape cycling. He brings not only exceptional athletic talent, but also a remarkable mindset. His determination, professionalism, and relentless drive to succeed are truly inspiring.”
This refutes the words from several players in this massive story including Evenepoel who had denied the agreement with the German team. Evenepoel will break his contract and join Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe in 2026, hence not having his final year with the Belgian team. Alongside several staff members and a rider that will tag along most certainly, it is also said that the team will pay the €2 million that Quick-Step was supposed to pay him next season for a full season.
With Primoz Roglic, Jai Hindley, Daniel Martínez, Giulio Pellizzari and Aleksandr Vlasov all having a contract running into 2026 with no doubt Evenepoel can have the support he hopes for in the Grand Tours – whilst Florian Lipowitz, recently third at the Tour de France and winning the youth classification, should also stay with the team and make for another key piece.
The team is thrilled with the huge move they have just announced and believe it marks yet another step in it’s evolution, and potential future battles with UAE Team Emirates – XRG and Team Visma | Lease a Bike. “Remco Evenepoel’s arrival marks more than just a milestone for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe – it is a clear signal. With renewed confidence and bold ambition, the team is setting its course to become one of the most attractive forces on the international cycling stage in the years to come.
