Jones Day Australia Partners In ChargeFrom left to right: John Cooper, Annie Leeks and Niv Tadmore

Jones Day has appointed John Cooper, Annie Leeks and Niv Tadmore as partners in charge of its Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne offices, respectively.

“They will continue to drive, in particular, the growth of our disputes practices, especially involving construction, energy, commercial and tax,” Christopher Lovrien, Jones Day’s partner in charge of Australia, told Asia Business Law Journal.

He added that these were areas in which the firm’s clients had expressed a growing need for support, alongside transactional corporate work. Cooper relocated to Sydney from Brisbane, where he served as partner in charge since 2016. He has worked on major projects in Australia, particularly in the transport, energy and resources, defence and social infrastructure sectors.

Leeks succeeded Cooper as partner in charge of the Brisbane office, having served as a partner in the same office for seven years. She focuses on high-stakes litigation and arbitration, and represents major corporations across the mining, energy, technology, financial services, aviation and construction sectors.

Tadmore’s rise to partner in charge in Melbourne comes after spending six years as a partner. He primarily represents multinationals in disputes concerning the taxation of intangibles and the digital economy, transfer pricing, international tax and tax treaties, energy and resources, and the application of anti-avoidance powers in cross-border settings.
