The inaugural Gunnedah-based Twilight Women’s Social Smash cricket season concluded at Donnelly Fields last Friday night, with the Namoi Ninjas finishing undefeated.

The Gwydir Girls and Mooki Maidens faced off, before the first-placed Ninjas opposed the second-placed Peel Power to decide which team finished on top.

Gwydir batted first in the opening fixture, and tallied 96 runs before Mooki bettered it by 10 runs.

Maree Lawrence claimed two wickets for Mooki, before her teammate Tania Ruttley earned player-of-the-match honours for her 21 in the run chase.

Gwydir’s Heidi Knight also bagged two wickets.

Peel Power’s total of 88 proved too small in the second game, as the Ninjas replied with 146.

Jess Small stood out for the premiers with three wickets and 31 runs, while Tiah Small grabbed two scalps.

Peel Power’s Katrina Leven finished the four-week season with the most runs (95), while Namoi’s Tara Small was the leading wicket-taker (five).

With the players having had plenty of fun and enjoyment on each of the four nights, a similar series is already planned for April.
