HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – Dustin Hale earned his first win as the head coach of UNC Asheville Men’s Tennis as the Bulldogs were able to ground the King (Tenn.) Tornado by a score of 7-0 at the Hendersonville Racquet Club. This marks the second straight season that the Bulldogs have started with a victory.
 
Asheville swept doubles play for the doubles point, before going on to sweep singles play to secure the shutout.
 
Jip Mens and Trevor Gray teamed up for a 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 1 doubles over Danny Neleman and Lucas Machado, before Griffin Lovern and Harrison Cooper posted a 6-1 win over Bar Meshel and Rohan Chalisgaonkar at No. 2. Leo Kolbe and Luke Ruecker closed out doubles play with a 6-0 shutout of Rutger Van Dongen and Ben Jones at No. 3. Mens would go on to beat Neleman 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Daniel Franco-Key outlasted Meshe 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2. Cian Ingles would earn his first win of the season in 6-0, 6-4 fashion over Machado at No. 3, before Harrison Cooper earned his first career singles win at No. 4 defeating Jones by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Martin Fuks would follow suit with his first win as a Bulldog beating Chalisgaonkar 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, before Kolbe would close things out with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Maximillian Kellner at No. 6.
