My, my, my, The Belair Lip Bombs brought pure joy to the Like A Version studio with their cover of The 1975’s ‘Happiness’.

Making their Like A Version debut, the Frankston four piece put their own warm indie spin on the UK band’s 2022 hit, making their mark on the beloved track.

“It was the first single that came out of their latest record and I just listened to it for like two years straight,” vocalist Maisie Everett said.

“I still do.”

For their cover, The Belair Lip Bombs worked through a few options before landing on The 1975, purely because it suited Maisie’s vocal range.

“We were really trying to find ones that Maisie felt comfortable singing,” drummer Daniel ‘Dev’ Devlin said.

“I think a lot of The 1975 songs fit your vocal style quite well.”

They did have to change a couple of things for their cover, like transposing the saxophone solo into an impressive guitar solo, unleashed by Maisie.

Keeping it simple was the key, and that unlocked the door to this stunning debut Like A Version.
