Geelong superstar Bailey Smith is set to lose his driver’s licence after being caught speeding.
Smith was clocked at 125km/h near his Surf Coast home during Victoria’s recent bushfires.
The Cats midfielder was understood to be concerned about his 5.8 hectare home and animals living on the Bellbrae property on the Great Ocean Rd when he was caught driving over the limit last month.
The high speed indiscretion has exceeded Smith’s demerit points allocation and he is set to lose his license for the next three months.
It is the latest controversy to hit the star in what has been a turbulent season.
He found himself in hot water when Geelong were forced to cancel future Mad Monday celebrations after posting an inappropriate image and caption about veteran football reporter Caroline Wilson.
Earlier in the year Smith verbally abused a female Geelong Advertiser photographer leading the AFL to warn him about his conduct.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon had visited Smith’s coastal abode for a fireside chat about his off field behaviour and social media content.
On the field Smith’s move from the Western Bulldogs was a raging success, capped off by an All-Australian jumper and leading the Cats to a Grand Final.
