Mixed martial arts veteran Nick Diaz has declared that he still believes he can become a world champion at the age of 42.

For many years now, Nick Diaz has been one of the most popular ‘non-active’ fighters in all of MMA, alongside his brother Nate. The Diaz brothers have captured the imagination of the masses for their personalities and their unique fight styles, even though it’s actually pretty rare to see either of them compete consistently. Nevertheless, they still have massive fanbases, and that’s a testament to what they have achieved in their respective careers.

In recent times, though, there has been some general concern regarding the well-being of Nick Diaz. It seems as if fighting has been the last thing on the mind of those close to him for Nick, and considering how long it’s been since he actually got in there, it makes sense that the majority of people automatically assumed that he was retired.

In a recent interview, however, Nick Diaz made an incredibly bold claim when discussing what the future could hold for him.

Nick Diaz discusses his future in combat sports

“I see myself becoming a world champion. I see myself becoming a world champion. I think it’s easy money, it’s not like before. People are gonna see a brand new me. I just think that I wouldn’t have made it this far if I thought that there was something that could stop me. I’m just very confident that I’m gonna do better.”

Diaz is the kind of guy who is bound to make statements like this from time to time, but all we really care about is that he’s doing okay. Regardless of whether or not he competes, it’s just nice to see that he appears to be looking somewhat healthier these days.
