UPDATE: As of 2:50 p.m. on Friday, National Grid is not reporting any outages, and power was restored to the area.
CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) — Thousands of power outages were reported on Friday in Cortland County, and they might remain in the dark for several hours, according to information from National Grid.
Upwards of 8,000 customers are without power across several municipalities in Cortland County on Friday, Feb. 6.
Around 11:30 a.m., widespread outages were reported in areas around the City of Cortland, Town of Cortland, Cortlandville, Homer, Cortland West, Virgil, Munsons Corners, and several other areas in the southern section of the county, according to National Grid.
The area is expected to be without power for much of the afternoon, with National Grid posting a restoration time for around 3:15 p.m. for much of the impacted area.
That timeframe is subject to change, however, as the day moves on.
