Evanston, Ill. – Oklahoma State’s eighth-ranked women’s tennis team fell to No. 9 NC State, 4-3, in the Round of 16 of the ITA Indoor National Championships, on Friday in Evanston, Illinois.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 2-2 on the season and gives them back-to-back losses for the first time since February of 2025. OSU will move into the consolation bracket and take on Northwestern at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in Evanston.
The match began with doubles, where the Cowgirls claimed the point. The Cowgirls struck first on court one, where Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp defeated No. 2 Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe, 6-2.
Olivia Lincer and Marcela Lopez collected another doubles win by defeating No. 16 Anna Zyranova and Jasmine Conway, 6-3, to secure the point for OSU. Court three went unfinished, with Lucia Peyre and Luca Udvardy led Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie, 5-4.
In singles, OSU claimed the first point when Lincer defeated No. 43 Broadfoot, 6-1, 6-2. The Wolfpack scored its first point when Conway defeated Lopez, 6-3, 6-4. No. 68 Peyre gave the Cowgirls a 3-1 lead with a win over No. 18 Tanasie, 6-2, 6-2.
NC State responded on court three as No. 110 Zyranova beat No. 19 Nijkamp, 7-6, 6-3, before No. 36 Slama bested Komar, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
With the match tied at 3-3, Osuigwe outlasted Udvardy in a second-set tiebreaker, 7-6, 7-6 (7-1), to clinch the match.
