Happy Super Bowl Sunday, everyone.
Before we settle in to watch the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks for the Lombardi Trophy this evening, we’ve got a big game and a big day at the JMA Dome with No. 6 Louisville (21-4, 11-1 ACC) in town to take on the Orange.
The Cardinals are the ACC’s top-scoring team and rank No. 18 nationally at 81.9 points per game. What makes that even more impressive is it is truly a team effort with not one Louisville player averaging over 12 points per game.
Syracuse enters as the nation’s ninth-best rebounding team (43.4 rebounds per game) and leads the ACC in offensive rebounds (17.5 per game). The Orange also pace the conference in turnovers forced (20.1 per game) and average 11.2 steals per game, which is second-best in the league.
Kaleena Smith, the No. 1 women’s basketball recruit in the Class of 2027, is scheduled to make an official visit to Syracuse today.
Smith is a 5-foot-6 point guard who is ranked by 247Sports as the top prospect in her class. She plays for Ontario Christian School in Ontario, California.
Nicknamed “Special K,” she was named California’s Gatorade State Player of the Year last season as a sophomore, averaging 23.2 points, 8.1 assists and 4.5 steals per game.
Syracuse University will honor pioneering marathoner Kathrine Switzer by hanging her famous bib number 261 in the JMA Wireless Dome at halftime on National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
