OCEANSIDE, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph’s men’s tennis team collected a shutout victory on Sunday, blanking Hofstra by a 4-0 score.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Hawks took the early lead via the doubles point.  Othman Bezzaz and Ernesto Ruy were 6-3 winners in the second flight; a third-flight walkover then clinched the first point of the day for SJU.
 
• After a walkover in the sixth singles flight doubled the lead, Sehaj Singh Pawar notched his first singles victory with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the fifth flight.
 
Santiago Valle clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the top flight.  Elsewhere, Ruy and Bezzaz were both a game away from victory in the third and fourth, respectively, while Damir Abdusamadov was up a set in the second.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks are back in action on Friday afternoon at Navy.
