Dillon Danis reminded the world just how dangerous he can be in a recent interview-turned-sparring session ahead of his fighting return.
The renowned jiu-jitsu black belt has been a figure of derision in the MMA world for the past few years, fighting just once in a losing boxing effort against Logan Paul two years ago. He was battered and eventually disqualified in that farcical contest, and his two comeback fights this year were cancelled.
But with his return to full MMA competition against Warren Spencer on August 30 upcoming, he showed commentator Wade Plemons just how deadly his grappling can be. He is set to face Spencer, an influencer boxer, in the first ever MMA bout to be held on a Misfits Boxing card later this month.
Dillon Danis brutalizes Wade Plemons as he shows off skills in sparring session
In a new video for Wade Plemons’ YouTube channel The WADE Concept, after interviewing Dillon Danis the commentator was asked to put his fighting skills to the test. The social media star won his first professional boxing match this year, but has never grappled or even laced up MMA gloves.
Danis very quickly showed the levels, insisting that he was happy to show off his entire skillset given the level of opponent he will be facing in Spencer. The pair engaged in what was a comically low-octane spar for the black belt, while also being a fight for Plemons’ life.
Danis showed the ease with which a top grappler can get a novice, perhaps like his opponent Spencer, to the ground even when they are big and athletic. At one point he even spanked Plemons as they moved for position.
Ultimately, the pair did a couple of light rounds in which Danis hardly broke a sweat. He noted that he would be training properly later that day, and congratulated Plemons on being able to hang in with someone at his level of grappling.
Wade Plemons faked neck injury in cringe-inducing video promotion
Before the release of Plemons’ interview and sparring video with Danis, the pair engaged in a cringeworthy fake feud to hype the project. The commentator wore a comical Andy Kaufman-style neck brace as he complained of neck injuries that were proved to be non-existent.
Sorry yall but you know if I was coming back to misfits I had to bring a bit of the WWE with me.

Misfits Boxing boss Mams Taylor played into the gimmick, insisting that Danis would be punished appropriately for his actions. Spencer even got involved, claiming at one point the fight was off, only to have that quickly shut down.
“Sorry y’all but you know if I was coming back to Misfits I had to bring a bit of the WWE with me,” Plemons said in a video making light of his promotional tactic. “In the business we call that… A work. See you on August 30th.”
