Dublin, Feb. 9 (SANA) Syria’s national tennis team secured a 3–1 victory over host Ireland in their tie held as part of the Davis Cup World Group II qualifiers.

In the opening singles rubber, Syria’s Hazem Al-Nu defeated Ireland’s Michael O’Gorman in straight sets.

The doubles rubber opened in favor of the Irish side, which took the first set 6–1. Syria responded to win the second set 6–3 before sealing the match with a 7–6 victory in the deciding set.

In the fourth singles rubber, Syria’s Taym Al-Athma delivered a strong performance to defeat his Irish opponent 6–1, 6–3.

The Syrian squad included Hazem Al-Nu, Taym Al-Athma, Amer Naow, Yacoub Makzoume and Rabee Saleem.
