Atomos Shogun AV-19 Announced - 19-inch 4K HDR Rack Monitor-Recorder-Switcher with Quad HD ISO

Atomos has announced the Shogun AV-19, a rack-mountable 19-inch (48.26 cm) 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher aimed at live production and broadcast environments. Housed in a 7RU chassis, it brings multi-camera switching, ISO recording, and a 4K DCI-P3 display together in a single unit intended for control rooms, flypacks, outside broadcast racks, and video village setups. This moves the Shogun name away from on-camera monitoring and into rack-based production infrastructure. Let’s take a look.

Atomos has traditionally been known for its on-camera monitor-recorders, but recent models such as the Ninja TX GO and the Ninja TX Monitor-Recorder place greater emphasis on connectivity and production-friendly features. With the Shogun AV-19, the Shogun name moves into rack-mounted studio and outside broadcast infrastructure.

At the center of the Shogun AV-19 is a 19-inch (48.26 cm), 3840 x 2160 panel rated at 1200 nits. It covers 100% Rec.709 and 99% DCI-P3, with support for common Log and HDR formats including S-Log, C-Log, V-Log, ARRI LogC, RED log curves, HLG, and PQ. The panel uses 8+2 FRC rather than native 10-bit.

In a rack environment, the size changes how the monitor is used. A 19-inch screen allows a director, technical director, or operator to reference the same image without crowding around a smaller display. In that context, the monitor becomes a shared reference point rather than a personal tool. The 7RU rack-mounted chassis with active cooling places it firmly in broadcast racks or road cases.

Shogun AV-19 supports up to four SDI inputs in multi-ISO mode and can record four isolated feeds simultaneously at up to 1080p60, along with a switched program output. That allows you to preserve individual camera angles while also capturing the live cut. For many live productions, keeping HD ISOs while generating a program feed remains a practical workflow.

Outside of ISO mode, the unit supports recording up to 6Kp30 in RAW and up to 4Kp60, depending on the input signal. Quad ISO capture is specified at up to 1080p60. Higher-resolution capture is available, but quad ISO recording itself is limited to HD.

Shogun AV-19 goes beyond standard SDI and HDMI I O. An integrated Ethernet port supports NDI HX3 send and receive, allowing video, audio, and metadata to move over a standard IP network. HX3 is NDI’s compressed implementation, designed to reduce bandwidth requirements on conventional infrastructure, which can be useful in environments where network cabling replaces longer SDI runs.

Audio connectivity is handled via two balanced XLR inputs with 48V phantom power and two XLR outputs, alongside embedded audio over SDI and HDMI.

For synchronization, timecode can be embedded over SDI and HDMI, with LTC input via BNC and reference and genlock support for integration into multi-camera systems.

Camera-to-Cloud workflows are supported over Ethernet, including direct uploads to ATOMOSphere, Adobe Frame.io, and Dropbox.
