KUCHING: Wolfpack Rugby Club has continued its commitment to youth development by hosting a rugby clinic aimed at instilling discipline, leadership and teamwork among students from Kolej Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah (KDPAHA) and Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Kuching.
The clinic brought together some 140 students from both schools, reinforcing the club’s role as a bridge between leading educational institutions in the pursuit of athletic and personal excellence.
In a statement, the club said the programme was structured around five core skill stations — Play Tag, Fish Net, Caterpillar Passing, Fun Try Race and Rugby Netball — designed to introduce players to fundamental aspects of the game.
“Each station targeted essential rugby competencies—from evasion and defensive coordination to passing accuracy, scoring technique, and in-game tactical awareness.
“The success of the clinic was made possible by the invaluable partnership of teachers from KDPAHA and MRSM Kuching.
“Their commitment underscores a shared dedication to holistic education, where athletics are recognized as essential for developing discipline and community spirit,” it said.
Looking ahead, Wolfpack hopes to institutionalize a clear progression for young athletes—from school-based programs to competitive club-level play, and ultimately toward state and national representation, ensuring the sport remains a source of inspiration, unity, and leadership development across Sarawak.
Wolfpack President Merril Demornay said that for him and the club, Wolfpack represents a legacy and tanding on the field coaching the students, they see reflections of their younger selves in the next generation.
“Our goal is to pay forward the mentorship we received and to show that the bonds and lessons forged here extend far beyond our school years.”
Echoing this sentiment, Felexion Lenggai from the Coaching and Development Committee remarked that through passion and purposeful action, Wolfpack continues to solidify its position as one of Sarawak’s most progressive rugby organisations.
“We are dedicated to developing future-ready athletes and leaders, ensuring the sport continues to inspire and empower communities across Sarawak.”
Founded by dedicated alumni of KDPAHA, the Wolfpack Rugby Club, since its establishment in 2016, is a leading community-driven rugby organisation in Sarawak.
With a mission centred on youth development and excellence, the club is committed to advancing rugby across the region while instilling the sport’s core values of integrity, solidarity, and respect.
