South Australia were unable to hold on, as New South Wales claimed a seven-wicket victory.
After scoring a half-century in the Shield match against New South Wales a few days earlier, Jason Sangha picked up where he left off as he belted three sixes on his way to 57, guiding South Australia to 7/242 from their 50 overs.
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Alex Carey set up the innings early with a handy 53-run partnership. Fraser-McGurk made 30, while Carey smashed five fours on his way to 52. Despite losing a few wickets through the middle overs, Liam Scott’s 45 helped push the innings on as he and Sangha combined for a crucial 101-run stand to put South Australia in a good position.
In reply, South Australia fought hard with the ball, with captain Nathan McSweeney, Hanno Jacobs and Scott each picking up a wicket. New South Wales, however, proved too strong with the bat and went on to secure the win by seven wickets.
South Australia will look to bounce back in their final One-Day Cup fixture against Queensland on Saturday, February 21, at the Gabba.
