House music fans are in for a treat this March, with a legendary UK producer announcing his debut Perth performance.
Michael Gray is a renowned DJ from Croydon in London, who rose to fame with his 2004 smash hit The Weekend.
The high energy dance track received global acclaim after its release, with the international hit quickly rising to #14 on the ARIA charts and becoming a Top 10 hit in Gray’s native UK.
22 years later, and the love for house music remains just as strong in Gray.
“I just love the buzz of making a record in the studio and then playing it out and watching a really good reaction,” the DJ exclusively revealed to PerthNow.
“I only make records for the dancefloor, I don’t make records for the radio per se but if they do end up on the radio, that’s just a bonus.”
In March, the house music legend will land in Western Australia, ready to party it up in the port city of Fremantle.

Although Gray has performed in Australia before, the 2026 gig marks his debut performance west side — a feat he revealed he “can’t wait” for.
“I’m really pumped about coming to Oz,” he said.
“I have been to Australia before, albeit probably about 15 years ago, in fact maybe even 20 years ago, so this makes this very exciting.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Sydney and Melbourne again, but this is the first time I have ever come to Perth and I can’t wait.”
Gray counts WA’s very own Dr Packer, a legendary DJ who has been a cornerstone of Perth’s house music scene since the 1980s, as a good friend and collaborator.

“Working with Dr Packer has been unreal — we work very well together and it goes to show the talent you have in Perth,” Gray said.
“We’ve never worked in the same studio at the same time, so he will start off a project and then I will finish it, then I’ll send it back to him to check and vice versa.
“But nowadays with technology, we can both work in separate studios from the other side of the world. He has very, very similar taste to me.”
Gray will be joined by producer powerhouse Francois K, a former Studio 54 DJ who gained global acclaim for his remixes with artists like Diana Ross, U2, and Coldplay.
The show kicks off on Sunday, March 1 at Freo Social as part of their 10th Birthday of Dancing in Space celebrations.
The venue will feature a 360 degree stage as well as live projections throughout the performances.
