On this Day in Boxing… February 10th

1908.- Canadian legend Tommy Burns, who’s the shortest heavyweight Champion in history, defended his title defeating Britain’s Jack Palmer with a fourth round KO. The bout took place in London.

1979.- Mexicans Miguel Canto and Antonio Avelar clashed in Mérida, Yucatán, in a great combat. The winner was Canto, defending his WBC flyweight title by decision.

1980.- Korean Chanhee Park defeated Filipino Arnel Arrozal by decision at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul. With this win, Park retained his WBC flyweight title.

1982.- Korean Chulho Kim knocked out Japanese Koki Ishii in the eighth round, at the Kyongbuk Gymnasium in Daegu, to defend his WBC super flyweight title.

2005.- Mexican Oscar “Chololo” Larios defended his WBC super bantamweight title, defeating former British champion Wayne Mccullough by decision, in Lemoore, California.

2007.- American Sugar Shane Mosley conquered the WBC interim welterweight title, defeating Luis Collazo by decision in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2018.- Mexican Miguel Berchelt knocked out Maxwell Awuku from Ghana in 3 rounds in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. With this victory Berchelt retained his WBC super featherweight title.

2019.- Jose Carlos Ramirez retained his WBC super lightweight title, defeating Mexican José Zepeda in a close fight, in a bout that took place in Fresno, California.
