History

LOS ANGELES – LMU swept UC Riverside 7-0 Tuesday at the LMU Tennis Center, dominating from start to finish.  

 

The Lions (5-1) secured the doubles point behind victories from Alex Padro and Max Wuelfing at No. 1 (6-1) and Cyrus Ahmad and Darius Tamaddon at No. 3 (6-1). The No. 2 doubles match between Emil Kindhult/Kuba Hrynkiewicz and Owen Pearson/Lucas Mszyca was left unfinished.  

 

Wuelfing remained undefeated on the season, cruising past Lucas Suarez 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to lead a clean sweep in singles play.  

 

The most dominant performance of the day came from Ahmad. He recorded a second-set bagel and crushed Owen Pearson 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.  

 

Sascha Nothdurft earned his first win of the season with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 triumph over Noris Nedelcovici at No. 6 singles.  

 

Emil Kindhult breezed past Ivaylo Simeonov 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, while Kuba Hrynkiewicz defeated Andrew Lavine 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3.  

 

Padro rounded out the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Michael Chang at No. 5. 

 

LMU plays host to UC Davis and Utah State in the upcoming weekend. The Lions will play the Aggies on Friday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m. (PT) before facing the other Aggies on Sunday, February at 12:00 p.m.Â
