Manchester United want to keep hold of defender Harry Maguire and have snubbed approaches from a number of clubs.

Manchester United’s focus on attacking signings could bring one more major deal this summer.

United have launched a bid for Benjamin Sesko and hope to beat Newcastle United in the race for the RB Leipzig striker.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already joined United, with Sesko potentially the missing piece in a brand-new front three.

United are looking for additions in other areas, but are also attempting to fend off interest in established first-team players.

Al-Nassr have looked into signing Bruno Fernandes, but the United skipper looks set to stay – as does former captain Harry Maguire.

Maguire brings up six years as a United player this summer, having joined from Leicester City in 2019.

United forked out up to £80million for Maguire, and the defender has been through so many ups and downs during his time in Manchester.

Now with almost 250 United appearances to his name, Maguire has become part of the furniture at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old has his detractors, but he appears to have attracted transfer interest this summer.

Reports from The Daily Mail suggest that United have received approaches from five different clubs as they chase Maguire’s signature.

Three Premier League clubs are thought to have moved for Maguire, while two Italian teams have even explored potential deals.

United’s stance has been clear: Maguire is going nowhere.

In fact, Maguire is likely to extend his United contract and could even finish his career at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old is clearly a valued part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, and this rejection suggests a big role for the England ace moving forward.

Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui are all battling for starting roles in Amorim’s back three.

United could have considered cashing in on Maguire and reinvesting in other signings, especially with Maguire heading towards 33.

The suggestion that United have rejected those approaches points towards Amorim counting on Maguire for a while yet, and United’s stance is unlikely to change.

Harry Maguire’s contract situation at Manchester United

Maguire earns around £190,000-a-week at United, but has just one year left on his contract.

As things stand, Maguire can leave United for free at the end of the upcoming season.

Maguire signed a six-year contract with United upon his arrival in 2019, and United extended a one-year option on that deal earlier this year.

That was a fairly simple decision, with Maguire still playing considerable minutes in the Premier League.

United now face a trickier decision, with wages and contract length something of a dilemma for an experienced defender who may be on the decline in the near future.

Maguire seemingly wants to stay, and United snubbing new approaches suggests that the feeling is mutual, with a new contract potentially in the pipeline.
