Jimmy Butler is already missing his friend and former teammate.
The Golden State Warriors star posted a screenshot on Instagram of him FaceTiming Buddy Hield, who was traded to the Atlanta Hawks last week as part of the deal that landed Kristaps Porziņģis.
Hield jokingly commented “Why you trade me” with a crying emoji.
Hield and Butler spent less than two full seasons together in Golden State, but the two clearly formed a bond in their short time on the same squad. Unfortunately, they had to say their goodbyes at last week’s trade deadline.
Butler’s season came to an end prematurely last month when he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. The veteran was previously putting up 20 points, 5.6 boards and 4.9 assists per game.
Hield’s role decreased in Golden State this year, as he was putting up eight points per game in 17.5 minutes. He’ll look to take on a larger role with the Hawks heading into the rest of the season.
