Charlton 1-0 Stoke
Charlton move seven points clear of the Championship relegation zone while Stoke’s stumble continues.
The Addicks deserved it too, and might have had more goals to show for it than Tyreece Campbell’s cool late goal after a slip at the back by Ashley Phillips.
Harry Clarke’s thumping header from a corner rattled the underside of the Potters bar early on and Lloyd Jones volleyed wide from close-range either side of half time while Tommy Simkin also kept out a fine Campbell curler.
At the other end former Addicks man Jesurun Rak-Sakyi thumped the bar after a gorgeous reverse pass from Lamine Cisse and lashed another chance off-target before the break while several Sortba Thomas crosses went begging.
That’s six without a win for the Potters, just two points, and two goals in that run.
Their former manager, Nathan Jones, is more pumped up than usual, and that’s saying something. He’s ruffling a few feathers with these celebrations.
