Boxing legend Terence Crawford and UFC welterweight star Joaquin Buckley kicked off one of the year’s most surprising feuds.

Boxing stars Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson ruffled some feathers in recent comments they made during a stream with influencer Adin Ross. The two boxers downplayed MMA compared to boxing, and Stevenson called out UFC champ Ilia Topuria for a massive crossover fight.

While MMA has arguably taken over boxing in terms of combat sports popularity, the ‘sweet science’ is in the midst of a comeback, with blossoming stars like Stevenson and Crawford leading the charge. In recent months, this has reignited the debate over whether or not boxers or MMA fighters are the superior combat sports athletes.

This prompted UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley to get involved in the debate, as he slammed Crawford and Stevenson for their recent takes on MMA versus boxing.

Terence Crawford claps back at Joaquin Buckley over Boxing vs. MMA comments

In a recent Instagram post, Buckley responded to Crawford and Stevenson’s remarks.

“I hate y’all boxers, so disrespectful to us athletes in the UFC,” Buckley said of Crawford and Stevenson.

“You a h**! You don’t want to go out there and put on your best performance. So with that being said, stop disrespecting us. We are way more entertaining than y’all, it just is what it is. When we watch you guys fight, it’s predictable for who is going to win. There’s no excitement in that. In the UFC? You don’t know who’s going to get it!

“If we came outside literally where I’m at right now, I could kill you.”

It didn’t take long for Crawford, a former wrestler, to respond to Buckley’s comments on X.

“[LAUGHS] yeah I can see why he’s nowhere near the top. This guy is clueless,” Crawford replied to Buckley.

“Who’s even fighting in the streets anymore? Talking about who he can kill in the streets. He must of forgot they make switches for them kind of tough guys.”
