Charging your phone throughout the day is typically just a part of life, but what if you could impart more camera control as you did it? The Belkin Stage PowerGrip makes it happen.
Phones and cameras have long been connected, but over the past 20 years, it would be difficult not to comment over how phones have attempted to erode and usurp the traditional camera’s place in society.
For the longest time, it was just about quality, and phone cameras weren’t there. They were convenient, but hardly quality.
But then the technology improved, and phone cameras became capable and convenient. These days, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who carries a proper dedicated camera with them every day who isn’t paid to do so, relying instead on their phone to do most of the heavy lifting.
Phone cameras are at that point where they can be the very thing we rely on for more than just the daily random shot, and have become ideal for landscape and portraiture and social and more.
Proper cameras still have their place, and they definitely have more going on for versatility and sensor size, but it makes sense to consider a phone over a dedicated camera for daily activities.
Except in one thing: control. Holding a touchscreen in your hands may be great for watching and reading, and all sorts of other mobile activities, but it lacks the camera grip photographers are known to love.
And that gives peripheral makers an opening.
We’ve certainly heard of Leica adding its own grip into the iPhone ring, but a new release from Belkin might just be the best addition yet, bringing power and control to the aptly named “PowerGrip”.

What is the Belkin PowerGrip?

Technically known as the Belkin Stage PowerGrip, this little accessory is a combination of things. It’s a phone holder, a phone-to-camera converter, and perhaps more conveniently, it’s also a power pack for your phone and two other gadgets.
When Belkin says it’s a “power grip”, there’s a bit of tongue-in-cheek wordplay going on here, because not only can it afford your phone more power, but it also adds in the camera department, converting your mobile into something more like a proper camera of sorts.
We like wordplay. We also love gadgets that are a little more useful than simply offering the basics. This is both.
What does it do?

With a MagSafe and Qi2 compatible circular mount on one side, it’ll become pretty clear what this gadget does if you happen to have a recent iPhone, or maybe even a recent Pixel.
Models of the iPhone from the iPhone 12 and higher come with a magnetic charging ring on the back, something only a handful of Android models have received in the years since. That means pretty much every current iPhone is supported, except the iPhone 16e which doesn’t feature MagSafe or Qi2 at all.
Grab one of these phones and slap it onto the Power Grip, and voila, you have a power pack that charges your phone. There’s technically a little under 10K of power to work with (measured in milliamps), using 9300 mAh, which is enough for a recharge or two if you’re keeping count.
But that’s not that special. We’ve seen those before.

To make the PowerGrip more useful, Belkin has included a wireless shutter for your phone camera. Found at the top of the hand-grip — which is exactly where it would be on a camera — you can turn it on by holding the button down, which will send the button into Bluetooth pairing mode, and then pair it to your phone.
Any time you want to use that wireless camera trigger, just hold it on to power it on, and your phone should remember it. Much like a selfie stick, the button acts like a volume key, firing the shot.
It’s a handy inclusion because it means you can hold the phone at arm’s length and fire a photo, or even trigger a video without touching the screen.

Does it do the job?
One thing you won’t get is auto-focus, and that’s because the camera trigger doesn’t work like that. If you want autofocus on your phone, you’ll still need to actually touch the screen for that, and largely because Belkin’s shutter addition is just a button.
This won’t control the focusing technology, nor will it play with Apple’s Camera Control slider on recent iPhone models. You can still control those separately if you like.
However, most of what this gadget needs is here, and then some. Yes, it’s a power grip, complete with a small screen to show how much capacity is left, plus a USB-C port and a USB-C cable.
The Belkin PowerGrip will charge three gadgets at once, making it a winner for mobile charging. You could take this on a dayc trip with you, and it’d be easy to keep your gear topped up and working.

What does it need?
About the only thing it needs is perhaps a little more speed from its charging, because it’s not that fast. This is a very minor issue, and possibly not even the point, maxing out at 7.5 watts of wireless or around 15 for wired.
The problem is the charging is quite slow if you have several gadgets plugged in at once, and you may need to unplug and re-plug others depending on if you just unplug or snap off at times.
This isn’t like the Anker Prime and its massive charge pack; the Belkin PowerGrip is a smaller power bank without quite as much power to push out. That means while it can charge up to three devices, it won’t be as fast if you do so. Running one device at a time is the only way to make the Belkin Stage PowerGrip feel like a fast power bank.

Is it worth your money?
But it’s also such a minor complaint for something that helps, especially if you happen to be a content creator. If you are someone that uses their phone’s camera all the time, and just want that little bit more control without sacrificing battery life, the Belkin Stage PowerGrip is a must have.
And at $99.95, it’s not much of an ask.
By comparison, the Anker MagGo 10K PowerBank has been one of our portable favourite power banks thus far, providing an approach that’s basically “stand and charge”.
Belkin’s play here is a little like an evolution, giving you “stand and charge and then some”. It’s an addition we dig.

Yay or nay?
It’s difficult to find fault with the Belkin Stage Power Grip, an accessory that really does feel like it’s made for this generation of phones and content creators.
The best of both worlds, power bank and camera accessory, the Belkin Power Grip is a content creator’s best friend, a must-have for anyone that sees their phone as an extension of their arm.
It might just be our favourite accessory for 2026 (so far). Highly recommended.
