South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell is pushing to return from a quad injury for his team’s Indigenous Round clash with the Titans.

The fullback has been sidelined for four matches but trained on Tuesday and faces a final fitness test on Thursday.

Mitchell is among a large crop of players eager to return this weekend, with Cowboys star Jason Taumalolo also on track to play his first game since Round 9.

James Fisher-Harris has been named in the Warriors extended squad for Saturday’s game against the Bulldogs and coach Andrew Webster said he will be given every chance to play. Chanel Harris-Tavita has also been named in the halves, however Webster said he remains in some doubt for the match.

“Chanel’s a chance this week,” Webster said. “James is going really well. Demitric’s (Vaimauga) going really well as well. He’s a chance as well.”

Storm: Centre Jack Howarth has been ruled out with a groin injury so Kane Bradley will take his place. Alec MacDonald is pushing to return from a rib injury that has kept him sidelined since Round 18 and remained in the squad when it was trimmed on Thursday. Trent Loiero is also set to take his place in the team after being rested, with Ativalu Lisati shifting to the bench. Harry Grant will play his 100th game for the Storm.

Broncos: Powerhouse prop Payne Haas is on track to return in a major boost for the Broncos after he missed last week’s game with an infection. The forward spent time in hospital but is expected to line up on Thursday night. “He’s had his break, he’s ready to go,” coach Michael Maguire said on Wednesday. Xavier Willison has been ruled out with a broken arm. Tyson Smoothy is 18th man.

Knights: Representative centre Bradman Best is set to return from a knee injury while coach Adam O’Brien has shaken things up in the halves. Jake Arthur will make his club debut at five-eighth, with Jack Cogger lining up at halfback. Tyson Gamble shifts to 18th man as a result. Jayden Brailey will play his 150th NRL game, while Tyson Frizell will make his 100th appearance for the Knights.

Panthers: A big blow for the Panthers with co-captain Isaah Yeo ruled out with a shoulder injury. Isaiah Papali’i will shift to lock, with Liam Martin to start in the back row after coming off the bench last week. Scott Sorensen is also on track to return from a leg injury via the interchange.

Raiders: With the bye next week, Ricky Stuart has opted to take a cautious approach with injured duo Matty Nicholson and Savelio Tamale. The duo remain sidelined, so the Raiders will field an unchanged side despite last week’s loss to St George Illawarra.

Sea Eagles: Tom Trbojevic is set to return to fullback after Lehi Hopoate succumbed to a shoulder injury, with Tommy Talau coming into the centres. Michael Chee Kam is preparing for his first NRL game since Round 23 last year after Ben Trbojevic was placed in the concussion protocol.

Dragons: No reason to change a winning formula for St George Illawara coach Shane Flanagan, with the Dragons set to roll out the same side that defeated Canberra last week. Emerging centre Hayden Buchanan has been named 18th man and could make his NRL debut if a late change is required.

Sharks: Toby Rudolf is on track to return from a concussion and is set to replace suspended forward Jesse Colquhoun on the bench. The Sharks are otherwise a settled squad as they chase five in a row. Cronulla have won their past 10 games against the Dragons. Teig Wilton is set for his 100th NRL match on Saturday afternoon.

Dolphins: Young gun Tevita Naufahu comes into the centres after Herbie Farnworth was struck down with a hamstring injury. Kulikefu Finefuiaki is set to return from a thumb injury that has kept him sidelined since Round 19 and will come off the bench, while Mark Nicholls will start at prop in place of the suspended Felise Kaufusi.

Roosters: Victor Radley and Connor Watson are set to start after coming off the bench last week, with Trent Robinson sticking with the same 17 that got the job done last week. Spencer Leniu has been named on the interchange however Robinson could opt for a late switch as he has done a few times this season.

Bulldogs: Toby Sexton is on standby for the Bulldogs if Lachlan Galvin fails to overcome hand and foot injuries in time for Saturday’s game. No other changes expected for Canterbury despite last week’s loss to the Wests Tigers.

Warriors: Inspirational prop James Fisher-Harris is pushing to return from a calf injury and remains in the extended squad. The forward is joined by Chanel Harris-Tavita in the recovery process, with Harris-Tavita looking to complete his comeback from a calf injury. The five-eighth was named on Tuesday, but coach Andrew Webster said he remains in some doubt for the game. Prop Demitric Vaimauga is set to return from a knee injury, however the Warriors have been dealt a major blow with Jacob Laban (leg) and hooker Wayde Egan (shoulder) set for extended stints on the sidelines.

Titans: Phil Sami has been placed in the concussion protocol, which has opened the door for Alofiana Khan-Pereira to return to the side on the wing. Chris Randall is also back on deck from a concussion and will line up in the back row, with Jacob Alick-Wiencke shifting to the wing. Sam Verrills will play his 100th NRL match.

Rabbitohs: Latrell Mitchell is pushing to return from a quad injury that has kept him sidelined for the past month, however Cody Walker’s comeback from a hamstring injury remains on hold for another week. Mitchell has been listed in the extended squad and will likely slot straight in at fullback if he passes a fitness test on Thursday. Brandon Smith is set to make his return from a knee injury via the interchange, while Jamie Humphreys and Peter Mamouzelos are on track to return from concussions after they were late withdrawals last week.

Eels: A double blow for Parramatta ahead of Sunday’s tussle with the Cowboys, with Sean Russell (hand) and Sam Tuivaiti (knee) ruled out of the clash. Jordan Samrani comes into the centres, while Kelma Tuilagi has been added to the bench. Tuilagi returned from suspension in NSW Cup last week.

Cowboys: The cavalry is returning for North Queensland, with prop Jason Taumalolo (calf), halfback Jake Clifford (quad), centre Viliami Vailea (foot) and bench forward Thomas Mikaele (knee) all set to complete comebacks from injury this weekend. The Cowboys have been dealt a double blow, however, with Robert Derby (knee) and Griffin Neame (shoulder) ruled out of the clash.
