The development followed the FBI’s earlier release of footage and images of a masked, suspected abductor captured by Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera.

The suspect was described as a male, between 175cm and 179cm tall, with an average build.

In the video, he was seen wearing a black, 25-litre “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack.

As the frantic search for the mother of a well-known US journalist enters its 12th day, police have more questions than answers. Here’s how it unfolded.

“Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement.”

Previously, local police said DNA tests showed blood on Nancy Guthrie’s front porch matched her, and that a doorbell camera was disconnected in the early hours of Sunday morning.

They also said Ms Guthrie’s pacemaker disconnected from her phone about half an hour later.

Nancy Guthrie required daily medication for high blood pressure and heart issues.

The host of NBC’s Today show has previously posted several surveillance images, writing: “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” alongside phone numbers for the FBI and the county sheriff.

She later shared surveillance images on social media.

The longtime media personality and her two siblings have indicated a willingness to pay a ransom.

It is not known whether ransom notes demanding money, with deadlines that have already passed, were authentic or whether the family had any contact with whoever was responsible.
