Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has heaped praise on Kohrra Season 2, which recently premiered on Netflix, describing it as “unmissable and unmistakably world class.” Taking to social media, Kashyap shared an extensive note appreciating the show’s storytelling, performances and creative freedom.

“Could not stop watching it. Sudip Sharma is officially the first showrunner in India who now has two better second seasons of two great shows. First PatalLok and now Kohraa. The story telling is peak, taking its time to unfold, letting characters breathe. Is in no hurry to solve the mystery, and in the process unpacks a whole town of people that needs therapy, including its protagonists,” he wrote.
Kashyap singled out the performances of Mona Singh and Barun Sobti, whose characters anchor the new season’s investigation. “Mona Singh and Barun Sobti’s characters and performances are so cathartic. By the last episode I was weeping. You won’t believe that it’s directed by two first time filmmakers. And kudos where it’s due, to the creatives of Netflix to allow it to just be and breathe. Gives me a lot of hope.”
He further added, “Unmissable and unmistakably world class. Haven’t seen better writing in a long time. And then congratulations @netflix.in for letting the language of the land be and not alter with the genetics of its milieu. Cinematography, music, performances, every single department deserves all the praise. This is going to blow up.”
The second season introduces a fresh murder investigation, expanding the show’s exploration of crime and layered human relationships. The story begins with the discovery of a woman’s body in her brother’s barn, triggering a complex probe. Mona Singh steps into the role of Dhanwant Kaur, a determined police officer leading the case. Barun Sobti reprises his character, Amarpal Jasjit Garundi, as the investigation widens and suspicion falls on multiple individuals, including the victim’s NRI husband. The season also features Rannvijay Singha, Anuraag Arora, Pooja Bhamrah and Prayrak Menta in pivotal roles.
