A teenager is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne’s south-east today.

Police said the 16-year-old boy was struck on Pound Road at Narre Warren South about 4:30pm.

An air ambulance, mobile intensive care ambulance and advanced life support paramedics were called to the scene.

The boy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the female driver of the car was assessed at the scene after she crashed into a tree.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
