Great news for Aussies Mia Clift and Josie Baff, who have avoided a second seeding run in the women’s snowboard cross.
Clift was 11th and Baff 17th on the standings, having needed to finish inside the top 20 to advance straight to the 1/8 finals.
Given fatigue can play a factor in this competition, skipping the second run is an advantage.

Teammate Abbey Wilson was 23rd after posting a time of 1:16.38.
The 19-year-old — on Olympic debut —will contest the second seeding run, but will not be eliminated regardless of how she fares.

G’day to you all!
Hello and welcome to ABC Sport’s live blog of the Winter Olympics, as we launch ourselves into day seven.
Everyone is still on a high after Cooper Woods’s shock victory in the men’s moguls, and Australia could potentially add to its medal tally over the next 10 hours or so.
Scotty James and Valentino Guseli compete in the men’s snowboard halfpipe final on Saturday morning AEDT, but before that we have several other Aussies in action.
We’ll be turning our attention soon to the women’s snowboard cross, with the first seeding run starting at 8pm AEDT.
Make sure you stick with us!
