A mixed martial arts fight in the Czech Republic descended into chaos after one fighter bit the ear of his opponent. Vaclav Mikulasek (known as Baba Jaga) and Pavol Vasko (known as Pali Hari) were in action when Slovakian star Vasko courted controversy.

In footage shared on social media, Mikulasek can be seen holding his ear and screaming out in pain as he turns towards the referee. It is at this point that the crowd takes aim at Vasko, who is seen fending off audience members as drinks and even chairs rain down on him.

A poster from Clash MMA promoting the bout described it as ‘No Rules’. Even so, the crowd didn’t take too kindly to Vasko’s behaviour and he made his way out of the arena with the support of security.

Mikulasek revealed he needed 28 stitches to repair the damage caused. He shared a video on Instagram with his ear bandaged, while sharing further updates as he recovers.

In another photo on Instagram, Mikulasek’s bloodied ear is on display. The caption reads: “I know I’m always here and nobody can do anything about it!!!!!”

Vasko, meanwhile, appeared pleased with the attention the fight was getting in the days since the incident. “They are already writing about us in the USA clash power forever,” he wrote.

The incident called to mind the infamous heavyweight boxing bout between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. On that occasion, former world champion Tyson was disqualified after biting a chunk out of his opponent’s ear.

Tyson and Holyfield have reconciled in the years since the incident. There had been talk of a third fight between the rivals in 2024 after their pair of match-ups in the 90s, but ‘Iron Mike’ played down such reports.

After Tyson’s defeat to Jake Paul, Holyfield shared a mocked-up poster hinting at the third fight in a trilogy. However, Tyson replied: “I love you brother but the trilogy is our friendship.”

In 2020, Tyson reflected on the episode on Undisputed Truth. “I’m really very grateful that Evander forgave me for this,” he said. “What was I thinking about? He lost a piece of his ear, I lost a piece of money. A lot of money and I lost my licence.

“All I could say is that I snapped. I went through pure hell. I went from the 10th hated man on the planet, which I can handle, to numero uno.

“Then I was forced to read this contrived apology letter at the press conference for the Nevada State Athletic Commission. To make matters worse, I had to read it on my birthday, June 3rd, 1997. But now I really am sorry. Me and Holyfield became friends.”
