An allegedly stolen car has crashed on Brisbane’s Story Bridge, bringing traffic to a standstill.

The Toyota Yaris was allegedly stolen in Kangaroo Point, then crashed into another car on the bridge about 3pm on Friday, causing the Yaris to flip on its side.

Northbound lanes of the Bradfield Highway, on the Story Bridge, were closed as a result of the crash. The bridge was fully reopened about 4.20pm.

Two people were inside the Corolla and were assessed by paramedics.

The driver was detained by police and has been taken to hospital.

Traffic in the area remains congested, and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

The crash occurred during school pick-up, and students at All Hallows School were moved to a classroom as a result. Parents were advised to contact their daughters on their mobiles so teachers could send them back outside to waiting cars.
