Following yesterday’s reveal of new and revised sporting regulations, today the Autobacs SUPER GT Series has announced its event formats for the 2026 season.

The only significant change is one that has been expected for some time, that the summer race at Fuji Speedway on 1–2 August will drop the double-header sprint format and revert to the standard 300 kilometre feature that will be run at six of the eight rounds this season.

Though not poorly attended, the Fuji GT Sprint Race – which included SUPER GT’s very first single-class championship races – did not bring the significant increase of spectators that the circuit and the GT Association (GTA) had hoped for.

Otherwise, the structure of the remaining rounds are the same. The races at Okayama International Circuit (11–12 April), Petronas Sepang International Circuit (20–21 June), Suzuka Circuit (22–23 August), Sportsland Sugo (19–20 September), and Mobility Resort Motegi (7–8 November) will continue as standard 300km events.

Fuji Speedway’s traditional Golden Week race (Sunday/Monday, 3–4 May) as well as the penultimate round at Autopolis International Racing Course (17–18 October) will continue as three-hour long-distance races.
