NSW Police fear for the safety of an elderly man who was mistakenly kidnapped from his northern Sydney home yesterday.
Police are asking for help to find 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian, who may have been kidnapped from his home in North Ryde on Friday.NSW Police
Just after 5am on Friday, police received reports from the neighbours of Chris Baghsarian, an 85-year-old man, who “heard some commotion” as he was being kidnapped from his home in North Ryde.
Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks said there were signs of forced entry into the house, and reports that Baghsarian was taken from his bedroom and bundled into a dark-coloured Toyota SUV by up to three people.
A vehicle matching that description was found burnt out near his home just after police arrived on the scene.
Baghsarian, who Marks said requires daily medication and medical treatment, was wearing a blue and maroon flannelette shirt and grey tracksuit pants.
“We fear for his safety and are appealing for his safe return,” Marks said.
“They have the wrong person. The family is concerned, and they are not involved in any criminal activity; they’re quite surprised that this has happened and what they want is the safe return of their father.”
Marks also appealed to the kidnappers, saying, “if there is a member of the kidnap crew that has any common decency, tell us where he is and we’ll do the rest”.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
