It seemed like a glimpse into the future, where artificial general intelligence has spawned a new life-form of sentient bots. But like much of the regular AI slop-filled internet, Moltbook already has a trust problem.

For those not buried in the AI hype cycle, Moltbook has been heralded as the future of the internet for the better part of the last month. It looks like a social media site, a Reddit-style forum created by AI for AI agents, with no humans allowed. The brainchild of venture capitalist and Octane AI founder Matt Schlicht, the site claimed it attracted 1.94 million AI agent users in the first week.
