Notebookcheck reports that processor sales on Amazon in the US in January 2026 fell by a factor of 51% compared to January 2025. The report is based on TechEpiphany data on processor sales on Amazon US. According to them, AMD remains the leader in the consumer market, both in terms of total processor units sold and revenue generated. Intel is in second place by a wide margin.
In January, AMD sold 23,050 Ryzen processors, which is 88.32% of the total, while Intel sold only 3,050 units, which is only 11.68%. The revenue is consistent with these figures: AMD received $7,196,106 (88.57%), while Intel processors were only worth $929,583 (11.43%). The most popular were AMD Zen 5 Ryzen 9000, followed by Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 and Zen 3 Ryzen 5000.
Based on the report, 3DCenter has compiled a table showing Amazon’s CPU sales data in the US from December 2024 to January 2026. This January saw a huge 51% drop in sales compared to last year’s data. Over the same period, the average selling price increased by 34.4%, from $227 to $305.
The 51% drop in processor sales can be directly attributed to the rise in prices for RAM, SSDs, and graphics cards. Users are having difficulty building systems due to the high cost of these components, and are therefore not buying processors for them. The launch of Intel Nova Lake chips by the end of 2026 offers hope for some revival in the processor market.
