Thom, who trains out of Aberdeen Combat Centre, opened the flyweight Muay Thai tilt on a strong note, as he hammered Donking’s body with heavy punches and fearlessly absorbed his rival’s head shots. Donking seized momentum in the second frame, as he closed the distance with relentless combinations that mixed kicks and punches beautifully. The Thai’s sustained assault even opened a cut around Thom’s right eye, and the 26-year-old Scot appeared to be losing the round heading into the final seconds.
