15th over – Kamindu to continue after drinks

Kamindu stays with the left-hand stuff, Maxwell knocks the first one into the leg side and picks up a single.

Inglis pulls the next one into the leg side and picks up another single. This outfield is so fast it’s really hard to pick up twos to the men in the deep.

SIX! Maxwell breaks free! Steps away and clubs Kamindu over mid-on for a maximum! Australia needed that.

FOUR! Brilliant wrists here from Maxwell, this one is fuller, and he powers it inside out over the off side for a one-bounce boundary.

Lovely running! Maxwell knocks the next one into the leg side softly and they run two in the end.

14th over – Wellalage to finish off his spell

Wellalage’s going to bowl out four straight here with Sri Lanka on top.

Maxwell knocks the first one into the off side and picks up a quick single.

Inglis cuts the next one away, good fielding from Kamindu in the deep keeps it for a single.

Good delivery next up on middle stump and Maxwell can’t do much but defend it.

A similar delivery again, but this time Maxwell defends it into a gap on the leg side and picks up a quick single.

Inglis gets one that’s spinning away from off stump and he punches it down the ground for a single.

Another good delivery to end the over as Maxwell picks up another single in the off-side. Just five off Wellalage’s final over leaves his figures at 1-33 off four overs.

Kamindu with one outside off stump and Maxwell calmly drives it through the covers for a single.

Kamindu ends the over with a dot ball, brilliant over, just four runs conceded and a wicket too!

13th over – Kamindu Mendis into the attack

The ambidextrous Kamindu Mendis is into the attack. He’s bowling left-arm spin today.

The first delivery is a full toss and Inglis creams it through the covers, a brilliant diving stop from Pavan Rathnayake on the boundary saves two runs.

After a dot ball, Inglis drives the next one past the man in the covers for a single.

12th over – Wellalage to bowl his third over

It’s a shorter delivery and Inglis gets on the back foot and knocks it down to deep mid-on for a single.

Wellalage fires one in towards David’s pads and it’s a wide, and the Aussies pick up another single.

Inglis punches the next delivery through the off side for a single.

Wellalage remaining on that off stump line, and this time David punches him for a single to the sweeper. Sri Lanka won’t mind that.

He gives the next one a bit more air and Inglis drives on the front foot for another single into the off side.

A good delivery from Wellalage cramps up David, who can’t beat the in-field.

FOUR! EDGED! Wellalage does David all ends up with some flight, but there’s no slip in and that runs away to the third-man boundary.

Lucky stuff there for Australia and David.

11th over – Kusal misses stumping chance off Inglis

MISSED STUMPING CHANCE! Hemantha absolutely does Inglis all ends up with his first delivery but Kusal Mendis fumbles the ball behind the stumps!

Inglis drives the next ball through the off side for a single to end an absolutely chaotic over.

Sri Lanka has roared back into this one. Replays show that ball struck Marsh’s pad before his bat, and once that was confirmed, he was a dead man walking because he was struck on middle stump.

Poor delivery from Hemantha, drops this one short and Marsh pulls it to the boundary to bring up his half-century off just 25 deliveries.

Hemantha responds with a better one on off stump and Marsh punches it down the ground for a single.

Tim David up for his first ball, looks to punch Hemantha down the ground and almost gets out caught, but the ball evades the diving bowler.

BIG LBW APPEAL! Hemantha with a googly that rushes onto Marsh. It’s given not out on the field, it’s one of those bat/pad calls. Sri Lanka sends it upstairs.

Lovely delivery from Wellalage, gets this one to flight and drop and beats Green all ends up.

Green goes for a big charge and slog, completely misses it, and Mendis whips the bails off.

Wellalage starts with one spinning away from Green outside off stump, and it’s flayed away for a single to the sweeper on the off side.

Marsh punches the next one down the ground for a single as well.

Three in a row from Wellalage on that off-stump line and Green again picks up a single to the sweeper.

Wellalage goes for a wider fuller delivery, but can’t quite get it inside the tram line, so it’s called a wide.

The next delivery is a little shorter, and Marsh cuts it away for a single.

Wellalage with an arm-ball and Green inside edges it onto his foot, it’s a dot ball.

Hemantha starts with a good delivery on off stump and Cam Green, Australia’s No.3 defends.

BEATEN! Hemantha gets this one to pitch and rip away from Green, who plays and misses.

Kusal Mendis whips off the bails behind the stumps and there is a stumping appeal, but Green’s kept his toe in after briefly lifting it.

Green punches the next delivery down to deep mid-off to pick up a single to end the over, a good one for Sri Lanka.

Hemantha comes over the wicket and bowls one wide of off stump, that’s a better line.

Head goes for another slog, but mistimes this one, and Kamindu takes the catch at deep mid-off.

Australia en-route to an absolutely huge score here in Kandy.

SIX! Around the wicket and Head unfurls another slog sweep and like the others, deposits this into the stands. Not sure about going around the wicket to the left-hander. That ball was right in the slot.

Dunith Wellalage, the left-arm spinner, replaces Theekshana in the attack.

FOUR! Starts around the wicket and it’s a good delivery on off stump and Marsh absolutely times it out of the screws with another punch through the covers for a boundary.

This one is a little shorter and Marsh punches it off the back foot to the sweeper on the off side for a single.

Stays around the wicket for Head, who charges and smacks it down the ground to deep mid-off to reach his half-century off just 27 deliveries.

A slower delivery outside off stump and Marsh creams it again, but this time can’t beat the man at cover.

SIX! Marsh goes BANG! Whacks Wellalage straight over his head into the stands.

Wellalage goes wider, and Marsh punches it to the sweeper on the off side and picks up a single.

Another 13 runs off that over, no breaks for Sri Lanka here.

7th over – Hemantha into the attack after drinks

Dushan Hemantha, the leg-spinner, is into the attack. He struggled a bit against Oman. This will be no easier.

He’s got three men out deep on the leg side.

Head drives the first one through the off side and picks up two runs.

The follow-up is good, pitched on off stump and spinning in, and Head can’t beat the man in the covers.

Excellent stuff in the deep from Nissanka as he dives full-length and saves a boundary after a brutal sweep from Head. Australia picks up two.

SIX! Brilliant from Head. It’s a ball on middle and leg and he gets on one need and slog sweeps it into the stands.

FOUR! This one is tossed up as well, well overpitched, and Head flays it over the off side for another boundary.

Sri Lanka don’t even look like getting a wicket at the moment.

Hemantha comes around the wicket and a good bit of fielding from Shanaka in the ring denies Head a single.

14 runs off that over as well, they just cannot stem the bleeding at all.

6th over – Marsh takes Theekshana to the cleaners

Sri Lanka going all-in on Theekshana in the powerplay here.

He starts with a dot ball as Marsh punches the first delivery to mid off.

FOUR! Not a bad delivery at all, but Marsh gives himself a little bit of room and whacks it through the covers for a boundary.

FOUR MORE! This time it’s off the back foot, but the same result! Another delivery that wasn’t all that bad from Theekshana.

ANOTHER FOUR! This one is fuller and does Marsh in flight, but Marsh is able to loft it over the in-field for another boundary.

FOUR IN A ROW! This is on the leg side, Marsh goes for a slog sweep, and doesn’t quite make a clean connection, but he’s able to get the ball past a diving square leg.

FIVE STRAIGHT! This is the best of the lot. A classic cover drive punch from Marsh.

An absolutely outstanding powerplay for Australia, they’ve got 70 runs off the first six overs. It is the fourth highest scoring powerplay of the World Cup.

Sanath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka’s coach, looks absolutely livid on the sidelines.

5th over – Shanaka to continue after replacing Pathirana

SIX! Shanaka drops one short from around the wicket and Head pulls him into the stands. You cannot bowl that length at 123 kph, Dasun.

Slower, fuller delivery, and Head reads it and spanks it, but can’t beat the in-field. Shanaka gets away with that one.

FOUR! Another slower one, and Head reads it again, this time belting it through the gap. I’m not too sure about Shanaka bowling here.

Another shorter delivery and this time Head mistimes his pull shot and has to settle for a single.

A better length from Shanaka and Marsh inside edges a cover drive attempt into his pads.

Shanaka with another one on a good length and Marsh defends it to deep mid-on and picks up a single to end the over.

Australia with 50 runs off the first five overs.

He starts over the wicket to Marsh, who punches the first delivery through the mid-off region and picks up a single.

Theekshana drops one short from around the wicket and Head mistimes an attempted cut shot. That one seemed to get stuck in the pitch.

FOUR! More flight from Theekshana and Head unfurls a slog sweep, agricultural stuff, but he picks up another boundary!

The next delivery is similar to the second of the over, as Head again fails to mistime a cut shot. Another dot ball.

A good delivery next up from Theekshana, zeroing in on leg stump and Head defends it through mid-on and picks up a single.

LUCKY! Theekshana flights another one beautifully and Marsh goes for an almighty heave and inside edges it past the leg stump.

A good over from Theekshana that time, just five runs off it.
