Chaos broke out in Mandurah last week at a performance by a controversial Australian comic.

Politically incorrect comedy musician Kevin Bloody Wilson brought his traditionally foul-mouthed show to town on Wednesday, but the edgy comedy was clearly too much for some, with one 57-year-old patron reportedly causing a scene during an interval.

Police were called to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre at 8.40pm following reports a man was acting in a disorderly manner and refusing to leave.

MPAC chief executive Marc Missiaen confirmed security “responded promptly and professionally, working to de-escalate the situation and avoid any conflict”.

The man was arrested outside the venue, and taken to Mandurah police station.

The 57-year-old man from Greenfields was charged with disorderly behaviour in a public place, obstructing public officers, two counts of disorderly behaviour in a police station or lockup and failing to comply with a request to give police personal details.

He is due to appear before Mandurah Magistrates Court at a later date.

“At Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, the safety and wellbeing of our patrons, artists and staff is our highest priority,” Mr Missiaen added.
