Star UAE Team Emirates prospect Pablo Torres has opened up about the “pressure” young riders face in today’s peloton in an interview with Wielerflits – published on the same day that his teammates added two more victories to UAE’s already astounding 2026 win total.

“Everyone thinks I’m going to be a good rider, which is their right,” said Torres. “But they also think I’ll reach the pros and immediately win my first races. Of course, that’s not how it works. Everyone has their own growth path and career.”

Torres, 20, is a few weeks into his second pro season, having been promoted to the WorldTour team from UAE’s development squad in the wake of a flashy 2024 campaign that saw the young Spaniard deliver big results in the under-23 ranks. Most notably, he stormed to two stage wins at that year’s Tour de l’Avenir, where he won the queen stage on the Colle delle Finestre a whopping 3:43 ahead of Joseph Blackmore, who claimed the overall title just ahead of Torres when all was said and done.
