A Perth radio favourite is returning to the airwaves, with former 6PR announcer Fred Mafrica joining Forever Classic 6IX.
Fred had been with 6PR for fifteen years – hosting Overnights and then Saturday nights – when the axe fell.
Nine Radio made the decision to network the programs out of Melbourne, leaving Fred’s loyal listeners outraged.
In January, with a heavy heart, Fred said goodbye to his audience, vowing that he would always be “100% local and 100% Perth.”
Fred says he’s thrilled to begin a new chapter at 6IX, where he’ll host Jukebox Saturday Night.
“I’m so honoured to be offered a role at 6IX, a station I grew up listening to as a teenager, filled with tradition and great classic music,” says Fred.
“If you do radio for Perth listeners, then you must be in Perth. I’m so proud to be back on Perth radio.”
Fred will commence on-air at 6IX on February 21st.
