Commentator Jason Bennett won’t feature on Channel 7’s AFL coverage this season.

The popular Bennett, an award-winning sports broadcaster, was the network’s main VFL caller and had featured on some Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon matches.

Seven unveiled its commentary team on Tuesday with Bennett confirmed to no longer be on its roster.

He may, however, still be part of Seven’s AFLW commentary team.

The broadcaster was an AFL commentator from 2002 to 2006 before embarking on an international posting with ESPN and its popular program Aussies Abroad. Bennett had been calling footy on Seven since 2015, covering a mix of AFL, AFLW and VFL.

An addition to Seven’s group of callers is Triple M star Jack Heverin, who will be part of Seven’s coverage on select Sunday games.

He joins callers Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Hamish McLachlan and Alister Nicholson.

Another name not mentioned on Tuesday was sports reporter Tom Morris who defected from Channel 9, but is under a non-compete clause until the second half of the season.
