The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar has hit a new price low on Amazon, with the Tactical Edition of the outdoor watch now listed at $299.99—a massive $200 discount.
This deal represents a significant new floor for this specific SKU, with its previous low being $319.99 in April 2025.
Although it has been superseded by the Instinct 3—released in January 2025—this saving puts it $250 cheaper than the current-gen 50mm equivalent.

What we like about the Instinct 2X Solar
In our Instinct 2X Solar review (from its launch in 2023), we found it to be a solid, no-nonsense alternative to the more expensive Fenix range.
The Tactical Edition, in particular, adds niche yet useful tools such as stealth mode, night vision compatibility, and even boasts the brand’s excellent dual-frequency GNSS.

However, the real star of the show is the integrated LED flashlight. It features several intensity levels and a red-light mode to preserve night vision, making it highly useful for everything from nighttime trail running to navigating a dark campsite.
A reason to pick the 2X over the Instinct 3 equivalent.
While there’s no doubt the Instinct 3 is a better overall device, the 2X—particularly at this low price—offers the best way to access solar charging in a rugged Garmin watch.
While solar functionality is available on certain third-gen models, as well, it’s significantly more expensive (the 50mm Tactical Edition of the Instinct 3 currently retails for around $549-$599).
So, for anyone looking for a rugged, utility-focused wearable and not interested in the fragility of an AMOLED panel, this $299 price point is unbeatable for a device built to last.
