Eleanor Finlay earned three top placings as she was among a group of Gunnedah Triathlon Club members competing at last weekend’s NSW Junior U9-13 Track State Championships at the Dubbo cycling facility.
After battling gastro last Friday, Eleanor had two victories the following day and one triumph on the Sunday while competing in the Junior Girls 9 (JG9) category.
Eleanor won the individual time trial and scratch race last Saturday, and followed up with victory in Sunday’s sprint derby.
Of the other Gunnedah Triathlon Club members, Reggie Stewart was in the Junior Girls (JG11) category while John Finlay was in the Junior Boys (JB11) category.
Reggie placed fourth in the individual time trial, scratch race and sprint derby, having repeatedly finished close behind the third placegetter.
John came fourth in the individual time trial, second in the scratch race and fourth in the sprint derby.
John finished a mere 0.03 of a second behind the bronze winner in the individual time trial, and then he led the scratch race for much of the time.
Other competitors across the two days came from Bankstown, Bathurst, Castlemaine, Dubbo, Illawarra, Neo, Vikings, and Wagga Wagga.
