ARLINGTON, Texas – The UNT tennis team earned its second consecutive sweep Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 drubbing of UT Arlington on the road at the UTA Tennis Complex.

The Mean Green picked up the doubles point and got singles wins at lines one, two and six to earn the win and improve to 5-4 on the year while UTA dropped to 2-6.

In doubles action, the duo of Lou Chalard and Lilly Schultz continued their winning ways with a strong 6-2 win at line one. In addition, Carolina Laydner and Marina Adati also picked up a 6-2 victory at line two doubles to put the Mean Green on top 1-0.

The dominant day for Chalard continued into singles play as she dispatched of her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at line two.

Freshman Ujin Batsukh was also strong at line six with a 6-1, 6-0 win to mirror Chalard and give UNT a 2-0 lead.

Playing at line one, Laydner won the opening set 6-2 and rallied to win the second set 6-4 and clinch the match 4-0 in favor of the Mean Green.

Elsewhere in singles play, Lilly Schultz won her opening set 7-6 (7-5) at line three and Pia Petelinsek won her second set 6-3 to force a decisive third set at line four.

With the win, North Texas moves above .500 for the second time this season. The Mean Green will return to action Friday when they travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Abilene Christian at 2:30 PM.
