With the Scream franchise back on the big screen, it only seems right that the Scary Movie spoof franchise is also returning to theaters. The first installment in over 10 years, Scary Movie 6 is headed our way this summer, and the trailer is coming much sooner than that.
Returning star Marlon Wayans reveals on Rap Attack this week that the first trailer for Scary Movie 6 will be attached to Scream 7 in theaters beginning February 27!
Michael Tiddes directs the spoof franchise’s sixth installment, releasing June 12, 2026.
Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Chris Elliott, and Cheri Oteri are all returning for the reboot.
The ensemble cast for Scary Movie 6 also includes Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, Benny Zielke, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, and Heidi Gardner.
Marlon Wayans teases in his chat with Rap Attack, “Anna Faris is back, Regina Hall is back, Shorty is back, which is me. Shawn is back as gay Ray. We got a host of others. Doofy is back.”
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The first Scary Movie was released in 2000, just four years after Wes Craven reinvigorated the horror genre with his meta slasher masterpiece, Scream. The film parodied horror movies of the time including Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The Blair Witch Project, and the horror-comedy spoof scared up $278 million at the worldwide box office.
The smash hit box office success of that first Scary Movie paved the way for an entire franchise of horror movie spoofs, with five of them in total released between 2000 and 2013.
Only the first two Scary Movie installments were created by the Wayans Brothers, however, with Scary Movie 6 marking their return to the franchise for the first time since 2001.
